The Changing Role of a Facility Manager in Facility Manager Software
The Facility Manager has been a mission critical, command centre type role, especially when on site. The Facility Manager usually has a bundle of preferred contractors that report to them.
This is usually in a face to face relationship or over the phone. When a tenant rings up to make a complaint or report a building fault, they either face a situation where they cannot get ahold of the Facility Manager or they catch them during a busy time period.
Now, using a Tenant Services Portal, the Facility Manager can rely on the portal for tenants logging work requests without having to ring the Facility Manager direct. Jobs can be automatically delegated directly to a preferred contractor for a particular category.
If the Facility Manager has three preferred contractors for plumbing, they can set the portal up so that jobs logged for plumbing go automatically to the first preferred contractor.
If he or she does not acknowledge the job within a specified time frame, the job can be automatically escalated to the next preferred contractor for that category, as if you were ringing around to get a hold of a contractor except the software is doing it for you.
